Job Description:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or any relevant course
- Preferably a Certified Public Accountant or US CMA
- Must have valid PTIN (from IRS)
- Minimum of 4 years of work experience as a US Tax Accountant in a US public accounting firm
- Experience preparing New York State tax returns
- Experience in preparing business and/or individual tax returns (Forms 990, 1120, 1040, and 1099)
- Preferably with working knowledge in tax software such as Axcess Tax, Document, Engagement, and/or Workflow
- Proficiency in Excel for managing and analyzing financial data
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in tax filings and documentation
- Amenable to work in a Hybrid set-up
- Willing to work the night shift
Responsibilities:
- Become familiar with the firm's policies and procedures;
- Review business and individual tax returns (Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S) prepared by staff for accuracy and compliance;
- Prepare more complex business and individual tax returns and address technical issues with efficiency and accuracy;
- Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to junior staff, ensuring they develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed;
- Communicate effectively with clients to gather financial information, explain tax regulations, and offer tax planning strategies;
- Conduct detailed tax research on complex issues, developing solutions and recommendations for clients;
- Stay current on federal, state, and local tax laws and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and provide proactive advice to clients;
- Work closely with partners and managers to develop strategies for clients tax planning and compliance; and
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members to gather information and provide updates on return progress.
