AU Senior Auditor

About the Position

We are seeking a Senior Auditor to join one of our clients and play a key role in delivering high-quality audit and assurance engagements across a diverse portfolio of clients. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and executing audits, assessing risks and internal controls, reviewing the work of junior team members, and supporting the timely completion of engagements in accordance with professional standards and the firm's quality requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced external auditor to further develop their technical and leadership capabilities while working closely with Managers and Directors in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee audit engagements, including understanding client operations, assessing risks, identifying resource requirements, and establishing engagement timelines.
  • Perform risk assessments and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls to determine appropriate audit approaches.
  • Execute and review substantive audit procedures in accordance with auditing standards, firm methodologies, and engagement requirements.
  • Review financial statements and audit documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable accounting and auditing standards.
  • Discuss audit findings, recommendations, and adjustments with client management and engagement leaders, contributing to value-added client outcomes.
  • Supervise, mentor, and review the work of junior auditors, providing guidance, feedback, and technical support throughout engagements.
  • Manage workflow, monitor project progress, and ensure engagement milestones and deadlines are achieved.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and engagement leaders, promptly escalating significant issues or risks.
  • Support staff development through coaching, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Conduct research on emerging auditing and accounting standards and recommend relevant training opportunities for the team.
  • Assist with administrative, compliance, and other audit-related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accountancy or a related accounting discipline.
  • CPA qualification or progress toward professional certification is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of external audit experience.
  • Strong experience with CaseWare Audit and CaseWare Financial Accounts Preparation.
  • Proven experience in Australian audit and accounting engagements.
  • Sound knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and auditing standards.
  • Strong technical accounting and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supervising, reviewing, or mentoring junior team members is highly regarded.
